I recently stayed at the Grand Sapphire Hotel in Croydon. The hotel has a modern look and is conveniently located with decent transport links to central London. Check-in was smooth, and the staff at the front desk were polite and helpful throughout my stay.

Communication wasn’t great when I called them. Requested to check out an hour after checkout time as I checked in midnight!! Did not inform me breakfast finishes at 9.30am as that was the reason for selecting this hotel because they included breakfast in the deal.

Complimentary Breakfast was okay.
Room was decent.
Main problem was the bed. Never heard a bed make so much noise , even when you turn your body.
It was unacceptable and made sleep very uncomfortable.

Door handle from inside the room came off as a result if you get in you cannot open the door from inside to get out unless someone from the outside opens with another key card. Luckily it was not just my 12 year old not locked it. I told the hotel reception but no maintenance was on site and asked to switch me another room but receptionist spoke to duty manager and he said it’s not possible. I left the door Ona latch open as I was worried about my safety in case of fire I will be trapped inside the room . I did say to reception its breech of health safety . In the morning when I checked out and gave this broken handle no apologies but was made to feel my fault and they would investigate how it happened and get back but no one called back or gave a partial refund. Worst nightmare to happen at night

This is a luxurious hotel with grand entrance and reception. Complimentary tea & coffee for guests in reception area. Free car parking on street & in well lit car park
The double room I booked was clean & tidy with en-suite shower room,with good facilities that met all my needs. Breakfast was included.
I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again, I recommend.

Out of town and good for overnight stay if you are attending events nearby.
Stayed for two nights, cleaning clothes and wipes were left on the table on the second day.
There were no towels in the room, and I had to call the reception to get it when I got back late the following day.

We booked two rooms to attend an event that was taking place at this hotel. It was a convenient location just for that purpose otherwise difficult to get to by public transport. They have a car park which is handy. Rooms were ok. The door locks don’t work and the staff know about this so if you’re travelling solo or with females-only, then maybe reconsider as it’s not the safest place for you. The management team aren’t very cooperative and did not offer any sort of compensation. Breakfast was basic. Overall I don’t think I’d stay here again and wouldn’t recommend this hotel either.

Very basic rooms and not very clean, bathroom fixtures and fitting very poorly done and quite tatty.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was ok all very cheap quality.

I am Sydel Walcott-Dhainy the person that booked the following on behalf of my family. We booked 2 family rooms, 1 single and a suite. where do I start:
Two days before, I rang to enquire if there was on-site parking and was told yes, there is just pull up to the gate and press the buzzer. On the day we were all told we could not use the car park because they had a wedding using the car park. I arrived at 4 pm, check-in was allowable from 3 pm and we were told our rooms were not ready. No offer to compensate for this inconvenience. The single room was changed to a twin because that wasn't ready either. When I got to my room which was for 3 people, there were 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel. I had to ask house keeping to get us more towels. The rooms were pretty basic. there was minimal place to put any toiletries in the bathroom. The supplied toiletries only had shampoo and a couple of soap bars and the light above the mirror did not work.
My sister had a suite and was told when checking-in that she had to leave a £100 deposit in case of damage (never heard of this in any other hotel, not even 5* hotels which we all have experienced) on top of that the room was nothing to write home about and for an executive suite did not even have a mirror in it.
My brother was walking along the corridor and a ceiling tile fell and hit him, when he complained they had the audacity to say they needed to check the CCTV to make sure we did not interfere with it.
All our key cards stopped working before the night was out and they could not resolve it blaming it on the technology, so we had to wait for the person on the front desk to come to each of our rooms to let us in with the master key after breakfast.
Breakfast was also terrible and very limited, not enough staff, the hot food ran out and we had to wait for eggs, sausage, beans. As if they didn't know how many people were in the hotel. You had to fill a kettle and turn it on to make your tea or coffee which was all individual packages.
At check out I complained and was apologised to, but told they would discuss it with the management to improve (doubt that would happen). It seems this hotel has dressed up the public areas to make it look professional and high value but beneath it all they lack customer service skills, not enough trained staff and generally don't care. This is definitely an overpriced con.
I for one will not be spending my money here again. Stay here at your peril.
